Artist Drops 20 New Cute and Relatable Comics Highlighting Relationship Quirks

Little Note Comics is a heartwarming comic series created by cartoonist Steph inspired by her love for her partner Julie. It all began when Steph started leaving cute doodles as little love note capturing moments of their shared life. Over time, these doodles evolved into charming stories about the couple’s everyday adventures.

The couple’s life wouldn’t be complete without their dog Nutmeg, who occasionally stars in the comics as well. As Steph has shared, she finds both Julie and Nutmeg endlessly interesting, especially because their personalities are so different from her own. This contrast keeps her motivated to keep creating. Steph’s sharp eye for the little details is what makes her comics so adorable and relatable, particularly for anyone in a relationship with someone who’s their total opposite.

Steph recently shared insights into her creative process for Little Note Comics. She said, I keep a running list of comic ideas so the first step is choosing which one I want to work on. Sometimes, it’s something that just happened and I’m immediately inspired other times I go back to an older idea I’ve had written down for a few weeks. I take my time figuring out how to tell the story in four frames usually four though sometimes two or three can work too. While I’m making tea or cooking dinner I’ll plan out most of the frames and dialogue in my head. Julie who’s usually reading a book in the evening, is the other star of the comic and that’s when I focus on bringing my latest comic idea to life.

We wondered if all of Steph’s comic ideas are instant hits or if some get scrapped along the way. She explained Definitely. I’ve scrapped a few comics after starting them. The ones I tend to ditch are moments where Julie has done something I find really funny or charming, but when I start drawing it I think This is probably not going to make sense to anyone else. Sometimes it’s too specific too random, or I just can’t quite capture the vibe or tone of the moment. I leave those unfinished in my files though I think if I get better at storytelling or try longer comics they might come in handy in the future.

When it comes to the influences on her art and storytelling Steph says much of it comes from her background in advertising. She explained, In advertising, we create and watch a lot of short commercials. The way you think in a video format really shapes these short comics how can I tell a story in just a few seconds what angles work, and so on. Recently, Steph mentioned that cartoons and kid-friendly content have had the biggest impact on her art and storytelling. I guess I’m just a kid at heart she joked. There’s something really wholesome and simple about cartoons like Steven Universe and Hilda. They tackle big topics but make them feel so approachable. She ended with a heartfelt message I truly appreciate everyone’s time! Have a great day.
