When you have a standard that many people share, that standard becomes a collectively and verbally agreed-upon expectation without the need for law. Women must wear makeup and men must not be emotional are two typical expectations that are quite common in many places.
But none of us are the same. These “expectations” do not represent all people in general. In particular, we are looking at the expectations placed on all women, as shown in the illustrations drawn by Lainey Molnar.
We love the differences here, and we love the relevant facts that we want the world to pay more attention to. Stop using a one-size-fits-all standard!
