Life while raising children can be hectic, but Kayela Larson, a mother of four, has found a creative outlet for the chaos. Larson creates charming and fun drawings that depict life as a mother and all the humorous insanity that comes with raising young children.

The artist’s love for art and animation was born out of classic Disney films like The Little Mermaid and The Lion King and she continued to be a passion of hers throughout her life. After college, she started a family and had children, and the time for art slowly faded away. Larson said the fl-ame was rekin-dled one night at the kitchen table after a particularly difficult day of parenting, “I decided I needed to get involved in something that made me feel more like myself,” she wrote.

A passion that was once soo-thing and cathartic felt awkward and strange to her. “Looking at my u-gly at-tempt at drawing a cartoon, I decided that ‘artist’ was a part of my identity that I wasn’t ready to give up yet. I guess that was the wake-up call I needed because I got to work right away.”

As is evident in her work, Larson regained her confidence and honed her style. She now uses life to fuel her art with fun parenting comics. Scroll down to see her work!
