Isabelle Melançon opened up about what first inspired her to pursue art and comics.

I’ve been drawing and reading comics since I was very young. My parents loved comics they were trekkies too and big fans of Lord of the Ring. They always encouraged me and my brothers to engage in art or sports. Art was just always there and it was something that was always supported in our family.

Isabelle opened up about her creative process, saying, I don’t follow a strict routine to find ideas. What I do is give my mind the freedom to let ideas evolve. I always keep a sketchbook with me to quickly jot down ideas, even if the sketches are rough. This way, I can come back to them and expand later. It’s really important to allow yourself the space to think and let ideas naturally take shape.

Isabelle expressed what she hopes readers take away from her work I often get messages from people saying that my comics brightened their day or that reading through the Namesake series helped them through a tough time. These kinds of messages remind me that my work truly resonates with others. Above all, I want people to feel inspired happy and maybe even a bit uplifted by what I create.
