He has been sketching everything by hand since art school, and he does it every time. He experimented with digital tools but ultimately discovered that the old-fashioned approach of sketching on newsprint, taking pictures, and then directing them in Illustrator worked best. Though many of his artistic friends do not agree, he does not give them enough credit because he has gotten really good at digitizing physical work.
